  • SAM2 Speed Sign in Boughton

    Boughton Parish Council now has its own speed awareness sign (SAM2) to help deter speeding vehicles through our village. It is currently on test (you may notice it does not light up at the moment) and will be fully commissioned in a week or so.

    It will be moved between three locations in the village on a roughly month schedule so we can cover Mill Hill Road in both directions, The Green and Chapel Road.

    Results will be published on the council website and reported to the Parish Council at its meetings.

    The sign was purchased after the last Boughton Annual Parish Meeting cited speeding vehicles as its top priority. The council welcomes suggestions for further projects. We hope to be able to facilitate the next Annual Parish Meeting in May 2021.

  • FLU TOOL KIT

    As if dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic was not we all need to consider, the Flu season is upon us as well. So, we have been asked by Norfolk County Council and the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group to make the Flu Toolkit as widely available as we can to Town and Parish Councils and to ask them to publicise it as much as possible to their residents and organisations in their patch.

    Toolkit to support organisations to deliver key flu messages to target audiences

    This toolkit is designed to help organisations to encourage those to access a free flu vaccination.

    This includes organisations and people who work with:

    •              Those with long term health conditions

    •              Early years setting aged 2-4 years

    •              Parents of children aged 2 – 11 years old

    •              Carers

    •              Those who are pregnant

    •              Over 65 years of age

    This toolkit provides access to bespoke materials aimed at specific target audiences.

  • Council Tax Support Scheme 2021/2022 Consultation

    The consultation for the Borough Council’s 2020/2021 Council Tax Support scheme is now open and can be found at www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/ctsconsultation

    As in previous years, we are keen to hear views on the scheme from as many of our residents as possible.  It would be a great help if you could encourage people in your area to have a look at the details and complete the questionnaire, and also let us have any comments you may have.

  • Great British September Clean

    Saturday 19th September 2020, 10:30am

    A parish cleanup and litter pick has been arranged for 19th September as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean. If you can help keep Boughton special please meet with us on The Green at 10:30.

    We will provide litter bags, but as we are not supported by the Borough Council this time due to COVID restrictions, picking sticks will be in short supply, so please bring sturdy gloves.

    We will be social distancing, but as we are outside, masks will not be required.

  • Join in the fun on National Fitness Day, completing your Alive Active Mile, your way!

    On the 23 September join in with the Alive Active Mile.  This can be completed through:-

     

    • Any form of physical activity, you just need to MOVE!
    • Walk, run, cycle, swim, canoe, paddle board to name a few but anything goes!
    • Active travel – to and from your destination – walking or cycling to work or school
    • Completing your mile at your normal training session – football, boot camp, fitness class or game of golf!  
    • Residential homes, care homes, nurseries, schools and workplaces to encourage their staff, students and residents to take part.  
    • Members of Alive West Norfolk can use take part using the pools and gym’s.
    • The track at Lynnsport will be open to members and non-members on the day – mums and dads can bring their toddlers and babies in buggies and anyone who uses a mobility aid is more than welcome to complete as much of the 4 lap’s of the track they can. 
    • For those isolating in their homes completing 2000 steps will give them their Alive Active Mile.  This is 1/5 of the 10,000 steps a day we should all be aiming for.

  • RAF Marham Flying Notices

    Over the past two weeks there has been reduced flying activity from RAF Marham. This has been due to a period of summer block leave for Squadron personnel, giving them the opportunity to spend time with their families, ahead of an upcoming deployment to HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH which will once again include a period of isolation away from their families ahead of embarkation.

    The Lightning Force will recommence their standard flying activity next week but the flying times will be different to what local residents may have become used to over the summer.

    From Tuesday 25th August until Friday 9th October RAF Marham will be entering a phase of night flying. The night flying will predominantly take place Mondays to Thursdays and is expected to be completed before 2300 each evening. This night flying is essential for training ahead of two exercises that the Lightning Force will be taking part in this autumn. As part of this training the airfield is also expecting to be in use over the weekend of 12-13 September.

    During the period 7 – 21 September there will be increased activity and it is expected that there will be both day and night flying during this time.

    In summary the key points to note are:

    25 August – 9 October – predominantly night flying Mon – Thurs, up until 2300
    7 – 21 September – increased flying activity including during the day and night
    12 – 13 September – airfield likely to be in use over the weekend

  • Boughton Footpath Under Threat

    A popular footpath in Boughton is under threat of closure due to the inconsiderate actions of dog owners.

    The permissive path from Crab Lane to Oxborough Road will be closed if dog mess continues to be left on this private land.

    The landowners, who have generously allowed residents to enjoy a walk through their property for many years say they have had enough of people not clearing up after their dogs or keeping dogs on leads and away from their animals.

    Dog faeces can be dangerous to wildlife and horses and should be bagged, picked up and placed in a rubbish bin or taken home. There is no excuse for leaving it on private property or in public places.

    If you have any information about these inconsiderable people, please contact the parish council on 01366 83017. If we can collect evidence, we will pursue a prosecution which can lead to a maximum fine of £1000.

     

  • Parish Consultation

    We appreciate that Covid-19 will have – inevitably – had an impact within your community over the last few months. We are keen to understand your views, and what priorities could support your community.

    Your feedback will help us to identify any help we can provide, including where we might be able to make investment or provide support for west Norfolk communities. For example, we have recently received some European Regional Development funding to support the reopening of town centres in light of Covid-19.

    We are inviting views from parish councils here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TRMPWS3 The survey runs from 26th June – midnight on Sunday 5th July.

    In addition, we are seeking views from businesses and consumers across west Norfolk; I have attached the press release providing more information and the links. If possible, please do share these surveys with your local businesses and communities. The insight we gain through this consultation is vital as it will help us to identify what support we can provide to communities in west Norfolk.
