Boughton Parish Council

Congratulations to all who took part in Boughton Open Gardens on Sunday. Over 100 visitors spent a pleasant afternoon in Boughton and well over £1000 was raised.

Events like this depend on so many people, each of whom deserve our thanks – from organising publicity, making and erecting signs, putting up gazeobos and marquees, setting out chairs, donating ingredients and cakes, preparing and selling lunches and teas(and doing the washing up), selling plants, displaying classic and veteran cars, motor cycles and bicycles, and of course, opening their private gardens for us all to enjoy.

There have been several instances of dog fouling reported to the Parish Council recently including mess left on Crab Lane, the permissive paths around the village and on Boughton Fen. It is an offence to allow a dog to foul any land in the county where the public has access, including the areas mentioned. Please bag it and take it with you, or at least move it from the walkway – find a stick and flick it into the undergrowth where it can decay naturally. Do not leave bagged mess behind. The penalty for dog fouling is a fine up to £1000. Please note that dogs are not allowed in Boughton playground at any time.

Sadly, inconsiderate people continue to despoil our quiet village and surrounding lanes. Here is another example, a stack of tyres and wheels by the entrance to Boughton Fen on Oxborough Road. This has been reported to the Borough Council and should be removed shortly. Today a small party of volunteers cleaned up the village gateways and signs. What a difference!
